I'm not saying this is the best carbonara in all of Bohol. But to me, this is one of the best carbonara I've ever tasted!
Becca Cafe x Bistro is a hidden gem nestled along Tagbilaran's Coastline, facing towards Panglao Island. Fronting the restaurant is also the infamous The FRONT Food Park, offering a variety of meals and beverages.
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place with a breathtaking panoramic view of a portion of the Bohol Sea where the cool sea breeze just makes it feel even more surreal.
With growling stomachs, we ordered their best-sellers: the Herbed Cheese Sticks, the Dirty Burger with Paprika Fries, and the Creamy Bacon and Mushroom Pasta.
Fortunately, there were only a few people in the place that time; we occupied one of the tables with the sea view and took a few pictures and videos of the view before us while waiting for the food.
The Famous food in Bohol finally arrived, and we couldn't wait to dig in. My boyfriend enjoyed his heavily loaded burger, relishing every bite of its tender beef patty, juicy tomatoes, crispy lettuce, sweet white onions, and creamy melted cheese. Each layer was a delectable treat, with every element so tastefully in perfect harmony. Fries were well-seasoned with a crispy exterior and soft squishy insides. The herbed cheese was a little bit underwhelming flavor-wise, although you still get a good crunch from its wrapper and a chewy, stretchy cheese on the inside.
What I got didn't disappoint as well. I have been a fan of carbonara, especially the very decadent ones, rich and creamy with just the perfect amount of crispiness from the bacon bits. I usually prefer my carbonara to have mushrooms instead of ham, and what they've got checks all the boxes. Creamy? Check. Protein? Check. Garlic Bread? Check. It was very flavorful without being monotonous or overwhelming to the palette. The serving was actually very generous as I was still able to share my meal with my boyfriend. Don't get me wrong, I am someone who can finish a big plate of food, but I still want to let him have a taste of this savory indulgence. For those who want a rich and creamy carbonara pasta, this one's for you.
Overall, Becca Cafe x Bistro is really on point, may it be in their ambiance, in their service, or even in their food. They're even raved to be a great spot for people who enjoy partying at night. It may take you 10 to 15 minutes to get there from Tagbilaran City Port Terminal, but I promise you, you won't regret it!
Plus, only a couple of minutes more, and you'll reach the famous site for the Blood Compact Shrine depicting the gesture of signified peace and friendship between foreigners and the natives of Bohol through Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and Rajah Sikatuna. Go even further, and you'll reach the Baclayon Church, considered a National Cultural Treasure and National Historic Landmark.
Whenever you are visiting Bohol or just looking for a chill place to hang out a bit farther than the city proper, definitely drop by and check out Becca Cafe x Bistro!
